Bratislava & Kosice, Slovakia | May 10-26

The 2019 International Ice Hockey Federation Men's World Championship was held in Kosice & Bratislava, Slovakia, from May 10-26, 2019.

The U.S. finished seventh of 16 teams in the 83rd edition of the IIHF Men's World Championship.

After losing its first preliminary round game to host Slovakia, the U.S. rolled off five straight wins. Its final preliminary round game against Canada had significant meaning as with a victory, the U.S. would earn the U.S. the top spot in Group A and with a loss Team USA would finish fourth and have a much more difficult path in the quarterfinals. Ultimately, Canada came out on top and the U.S. moved to Bratislava to face Russia in the quarterfinals. The Russians built a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes and despite a significant push, the U.S. suffered a 4-3 defeat.
